ATTITUDES TO SEXUALITY: PARENTS LEARNING TOGETHER Why? We
are all sexual beings, that is, we all experience sexual feelings and need to
feel good, need intimacy and need to relate to other people - babies, children,
teenagers, couples and individuals. We all want our children growing
up feeling good about themselves and entering happy and satisfying relationships
themselves. Having a fulfilling sexual life is a major part of this. Sexuality
is not just about what we do in bed!! It's about all the feelings and emotions
that go with relating to another person we like or care about. The
ability to express feelings and to discuss personal matters can determine how
satisfied we are with our sexual life. It's not easy to be comfortable discussing
sexual matters especially if we have not been raised to do this by our own parents.
What? SexTalk
for Parents can take you on a short journey which helps you practice talking about
sex and assists you to consider: - attitudes and values
around sexuality
- where our attitudes and values come from
and
- how can our attitudes and values affect our child's
developing sexuality?
A SexTalk for Parents session
can provide you with the confidence to talk more openly with your children about
sexual matters, to answer their questions with information appropriate to their
developmental age, and to understand more about your own attitudes to sex. Where? Experience
and research shows that parents gain most from sessions that are - interactive
- group-based
- designed
specifically for parents of similar-aged children
SexTalk
for Parents therefore talks to groups of parents in childcare centres, kindergartens,
churches, and other community facilities. We work across the entire greater Brisbane
area, and across other parts of Queensland by arrangement. When? Most
of our SexTalk for Parents presentations take place in the evenings, as parent
groups usually prefer this. However, we are happy to discuss times that are convenient
for your group.
